1960 Porsche 356B Roadster Serial number 87853 Engine Type 616/1 – 1600 Normal, serial number 602606 Gearbox Type 741-2 – four-speed, serial number 36897 The Roadster was Porsche’s successor to the iconic Speedster of 1954-1958 and the one-year only 1959 Convertible D. Roadsters were built from 1960 through 1962, with the majority of them being the 1960-61, so-called “single-grill,” T5 body 356B model. Just under 3,000 such Roadsters were built. Aside from their relative scarcity, Roadsters also are prized today because they have roll-up glass side windows while the top completely disappears below the rear cowl, as with Speedsters, giving a sleek appearance that the padded top cabriolets cannot match. This Roadster has two terrific selling points: It is all numbers-matching, and it is in the hugely desirable color combination of Fjord Green over tan. Where the car really shines is its excellent all-original panel body that features excellent paint in the original #6005 Fjord Green, very fine panel fit and gaps, and all-new trim and glass. The bottom also was completely refurbished with newly-applied Wurth undercoating. The interior is also outstanding. It is completely restored in all leather, including the unique and very attractive Roadster door panels, the dash top, and of course, the seats – all properly sewn and fitted in the finest Autos International tradition. The rugs are also tan, properly bound, with brand new floor mats. The new top is also from Autos International. The instruments were restored by North Hollywood – and all the dash knobs are brand new. The mechanics on the car are all rebuilt: engine, gearbox and shifter, suspension, and brakes. All are in first rate working and cosmetic order. The wheels are proper 4.5” x 15” with Normal-engine-correct baby moons caps, and they carry brand new Vredestein 165 x 15 tires. A factory Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the car and verifies its numbers-matching quality. Please note that the “light brown” upholstery specified on the CoA is simple the factory’s period translation for “tan” or later “fawn.” A single grill roadster is an excellent combination of drivability, value, and investment potential. Especially in the hugely popular Fjord Green over tan, and more especially with all numbers-matching, this street concours Roadster is an excellent value at $138,000. We invite you to come over to drive and admire this wonderful Porsche 356 P159
