1961 Porsche 356B Coupe Chassis: serial number 116899 Engine: Typ 616/7 Super 90 s.n. 803021 Mileage: 86,920 Color: Slate Gray # 6001 Interior: Red Leatherette Price: $59,000 This ex-California 356 is a very solid, ready to drive and enjoy, real Super 90. It carries all matching numbers: body panels, engine, and gearbox per Porsche's Certificate of Authenticity, which accompanies the car. It carries its original as-ordered 80-liter GT gas tank. It is in the CoA-matching original colors of slate gray over a red interior. The Super 90 engine is fully rebuilt, including the correct Solex carburetors, starter, and generator. The gearbox is in excellent condition, has been adjusted and resealed with a new clutch and rebuilt shifter. The underside is very clean and tidy, with new Konis, fresh undercoating and paint, and a freshly painted muffler. The paint is new, done to a high quality. The interior is mostly older restored and is predominantly correctly done, with new rugs and headliner from Autos International. Most trim is original but thoroughly cleaned up and polished, with a new windshield. The only update on the car is a correct 356C disk brake set-up, which enhances drivability and maintenance. The car rides on proper Porsche-issue 4.5 chrome wheels. It does have a period aftermarket wood wheel but we thought it was funky so we left it installed. It will be your choice whether to keep it or swap it out. Original numbers-matching Super 90 coupes are increasingly desirable. Market analysts deem Super 90s and the later almost identical SC-engined 356s to be the most collectible production coupes see the 356 Registry MarketWatch column. This one also carries the desirable slate gray over red color combination. All-in-all, this car is a fine driving 356 that you would be proud to enter in local shows while watching it appreciate in value on the basis of Super 90 engine, all matching numbers, 80-liter tank, and great color combination.
